dynoed my truck finally

ive had the motor flywheel dynoed and it made 662hp and 535trq. that was 2 yeards ago. so i finally took it to a chassis dyno and made a few pulls. n/a it made 449hp and 379trq. i was hoping for 500 or so to the wheels but from what im told a nitrous conveter,th350 and slicks eat up power. most use a formula of a loss of about 30% for my combo and i was very close. second pull was on a small shot. .024f, .028n fogger tune. made 639hp and 517trq. almost flat lined through 5000 to 7000 rpm made about the same power all the way. either way im happy. was shooting for higher number but the other people that day(custmer appreciation day at dyno) were complaing becuase they had been on toher dynos and made 40-50 more hp. one car in piticular brags on another furum im on(mustang 5 speed blower,ect) to make almost 700rwhp and only made 575. so i was please and out of 30 cars the strongest there

well at frist i was worried i was down hp for some reason. cuase the fwdyno made 130 more hp than trq and the chassis dynon only made about 70 more hp than trq. but either way i have a baseline to go from and ill just keep digging from there. and fyi its been 5.85@120 so far as its fastest at 2850 lbs footbraking on the same shot i dynoed it with. other than i ramp the nitrous at the track and hit it full tilt on the dyno

it was at big wood racing in benosn. not far from fastlane. there dyno supposely is updated with big rollers and makes less power than fastlanes dyno.a corvette there made 40 less than at rpm dyno and went to rpm today to make shure he had no pro blems and was where he was on there dyno. they all use dynojet just the difference in correction factors i guess

Everyone thinks they make more power than they really do..
30% loss is what I have always thought as well.
I wonder if that guy is going to post his numbers at that site? (snicker) ;)

yeh i was told by the owner that if i went to a powerglide id pick up about 30-40 rwhp. he said the th350 and th400 rob alot of power and the glides dyno similar to manual trannys but slighty less.im still happy with my numbers and the track times prove how much power its makiing. whats earks me is a buddy of mine dynoed at fastlan dyno(as stated in another post ) and made 615 on a blower and a shot of gas. and he cant get it to run past 7.2s on both power adders and of course he weigfhts 3500lbs. but its still so slow. i figured id made alot more than him. but guess not

Personally, Id be pissed if a normally aspirated motor was eating my lunch after
I had a blower installed..
Power wise.. The blower should offer him around 30% more than a normally aspirated engine
anyway.. And he is on the hit too?

Sounds like he has some work to do.. lolyour exactly right. he is at a cubi inch disadvantage being a ford mod motor at 4.6 liters and im 421 cubic inches. but like i said im happy and have something to base trhings off of for now. hopefully some tuning and more gas well get 750 rwhp and get this truck in the 5.5s

I cant wait to get this small bock truck done so I can get the Big Block truck going.
The motor (big block) made just at 1000 hp the last time it was together..
I went with a different cam.. better heads and a 1250 Dom (1100 last time)
I am going to send the intake to Steve Johnson and put it on the juice too..

nice power , your right about 30 % lost from motor to rear wheel. my 355 (on solid cam) makes 382hp , 444 trq at wheel, at motor 500 hp and 577 trq best time on motor 10.92 runs around 11.0's in summer and high 10.90's in winter. don't know what type of dyno, i think it was a dynojet
