I traded my victor jr. for a performer rpm intake, because my truck was very dead off the line, now with the performer it feels better of the line, but about 5800 or so it just pretty much quites pullin. Would a carb spacer help this any?

x2 on the shot..
Try a 2" spacer.. the 1" is hardly worth the effort..
That intake sits low..

the 2" spacer will work wonders. also if you have the intake off. notch down the devider inside the plenum under the carb. it will help with a bunch. and maybe even port match gthe runners
