Smoking Hot

I have a 355 sbc in my s10. Shorty headers, shorty plugs, straight plug holes using MDS wires.
My Issue: # 6 plug wire sets so hot it starts smoking. I have at least a finger thicknes of clearance all around. Engine temp. is normal. Anyone have any thoughts?

Does it run ok? Sounds like you need a protective boot for it. Oh and what plug wires are they?

MDS wires. Motor runs good. Could the spark plug boot be to big?

Are they the make your own wires? Just get ahold of some boots and you'll be set. They protected my cheapo plug wires when I had them on there and they were almost resting directly on the header.

You can try the boot protector. BUT to me, it seems like that one cylinder is running way hotter than the others. Can you get a hold of a temp gun and see what each cylinder temp is as it exits the head? I

when I had them crappy headers they will burn the wires especially number 6 I had to take that plug out with a open wrench , i ran normall lenth plugs but its damn close they all are number 6 is the worst

I had patriot shorty headers on my old black truck and didn't have that issue.

run accell shorty heder plug 0416s that should help with clearance

Thanks for your thoughts/help. I'm going to try putting an insulating boot on #6 and start saving for some fenderwells.

or the autolite ar 134 is a good plug as well , thats what im running
