Door Lock Actuator

on a 1995 gmc jimmy does anyone know how to remove the door lock actuator? i cant get my hand in the door? am i supposed to be removing the latch mech by removing the 3 Torx bolts on the outter edge of the door?

Yep, that's how you get at it Russell. It's attached to the latch assy. Don't know if it's serviceable though. May be all one piece, meaning the assembly includes the actuator.

Thanks phil, well i looked on autozone site and it seems to be just the actuator for sale not the latch assembly so i guess ill find out once its removed.

OK Russ. I looked in my data base and it doesn't list aftermarket for this item, and of course, GM wants you to buy the whole assembly. Probably like the PW motors in some of them. GM doesn't list them separately, want you to buy the whole regulator/motor assy, but you can buy the PW motor at Autozone. Good luck, the GM part lists for $204.44 for the right one, $250.46 for the left.:yikes: I'm sure you don't want to go that route.

i started taking the door apart, took the bolts out couldnt move it away to get a good look so i gave up!!! screw that, my gf can use the damn key!!! the remote locks the doors just wont unlock, ohhhhh well..lol.. thanks again phil

Russ, You gotta disconnect the linkage to get the lock assy to move.It can be a pita if you never did it before. Especially the fold over clip that holds the outside handle linkage. Guess I shoulda mentioned that. Sorry.
