Well went to the track today after getting the bugs out of my flying toilet. The motor was running on all 8cyl instead of 6cyl. Things were looking up so I did my burnout, staged and got on the trans brake then let it go. My dad said it wrinkled the slicks and lifted the front about 12 inches then bam really loud noise, drive shaft broke into three pieces, the pinion broke in half even with the yoke, tail shaft housing on the trans cracked. Havent got under the truck yet to see the rest of the damage but the driveshaft loop did its job. It was a richmond 5.00 gear set with three passes on them so I think my racing is over for the year. I will post some pics in the a.m.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune..
Now that the motor is running.. Sounds like the suspension is working too..
You also found your weak link..
Should be an animal when you get it back together..

Mike..
BTW.. Mandatory pics request when you have the heart to get under it..

That really sucks that it broke but the good thing is you have to be making a lot of power to do that kind of damage.

I added some pics, and I'll get some of the underside when I get out of the trailer.

Was that a pro gear or street gear?

Richmond gear from jegs, every thing was set up right my buddy's car runs 8.20s with the same gear so I guess I got a bad one. Going back with a progear so we will see because I have heard of them breaking also so we will see.

The pro gear is softer so it will give alittle. The two main draw backs of running a pro gear are less runs you can put on them and of course money.

I have ran several different brand gears, (Pro gears, standard Richmond, Jegs brand, Yukon, Motive Gear and few more)
The Yukon has held up the best, plus this is in a Aluminum center section...
Jegs gear was a decent gear also...
