If you have time please weigh in your opnion. This last race season, I ran a 1985 ext. cab backhalved s-10. It utilized a 31 x 10.5w rear tire, 4.88 gear, 1.76 glide with the brake w/ a 4500, tight nitrous converter. Issue here is, for convenience, I used my 625hp 10.5 to 1 bbc 496. It does have a set of cast dart pro 1 320's with a 600 lift hydraulic roller camshaft. With a 750 dominator and no nitrous, it actually did respectful. With no tuning of the carb or timing it ran a 6.60 in the 1/8th. I really, really think that with tuning, the motor had a 6.30 or betterin it. Anyways, this is what I want you to weigh in on. I have decided to build a "race" bbc. My plans are to build a 13.0 to 1 540 to 565 cu. in bbc. My stunmble comes in when it comes to the cc of the heads in relation to the cam. If I went with the 540, i was thinking some Dart 355. Another question is what is the basic formula for choosing the proper mechanical roller camshaft. Do you choose a 4/7 swap.
My goal is to run 5.60's to 5.80's on the motor with room to squeeze at least a 250 shot. I dont plan to do many 1/4 mile runs, mostly 1/8th mile.:cool4:
