how to buy stuff off internet?

im planing on buying a few things used from someone out of state, (not a dealer), and im wondering what is the best action to take to insure that i dont get screwed....im sure a few of you have been and would like to share your wisdom....:)
he wants a postal m.o. and will ship after he gets the check...

its on rj's site, no paypal, i have no idea about his rep...actually it 2 different people i'de be buying from on there

postal money order is the safest. if they screw you around then the post office goes after them. its federal then

Racing junk has a feed back system like ebay. Alot of people just don't use it on there. Guess it isn't mandatory. I have bought several things off of there with good luck so far.

when I got my stahl headers from jason on dragracer, I was very nervous, but I talked to him on the phone a few times, he gave me his address, cell phone number, home phone, even his parents info, after I talked to him a few times, I felt confratable with sending him my money, another guy had some headmans and I didnt get a lot of info and he didnt get my money

Yes.. Personal contact via Phone is the minimum..
I use PayPal unless I know the person..
I have been burned twice on line.. PayPal paid me back in full each time.

I would set it up certified so he has to show ID that matches and make sure he has to
sign for it..

X2 on the post office.. Make it a federal offence he he screws ya..

every deal i,ve done has gone smoothly , i use USMO only , i take a pic of the MO and who it,s made out to and email a copy i also attach a business card from the bank i drew it from , plus give them a person to contact if they choose , i speak with the person thruout the whole process . i also tell them over the phone and thru e-mails/PM,s that the MO may take 10days or more to get there and the bank may choose to hold it for several til it clears , i ask to be notified once the MO is cashed and a tracking # , i also notify them once i have received the product . i have bought from 10 states and several websites and have been lucky you could say .
