[I]m sure this has been asked a million times but ill ask anyway..I am about to embark on re wiring my 84 s10,and was wondering what would be the best route to take? Clean up existing harness(rats nest),or order a painless wiring kit? This truck IS a street truck,no a/c,non-elec windows..Advice??? Thanks

Personally.......... I'd start over from scratch with a new harness.

Cost is more, but will make your life so much easier down the road. What's that saying......... pay me now, or pay me later. I'm not much for doing things half way... every-time I've tried it... it ended up costing me more in the long run.

I got an uncut harness out of the junkyard and used it to rewire my blazer. I removed the stuff I didn't need. Works fine...

Trust me, this is my third time through mine and many can tell you the headaches Ive dealt with. If you can afford it, get a wiring kit. If not, remove everything and wire it yourself. Do not try to reuse the factory harness.

there is nothing wrong with using a GOOD factory harness... as long as its uncut or unmolested or fixable... you can use only what you need and with a factory harness you get tings like flashers turn signals and you have the benefit of factory plugs...

now sure you could get something like a painless kit and get the same thing... cost is the limiting factor there... i like painless kits as you can get what you need all in one shot everything is labeled and you have plenty of wire... the downside is... most people use connectors to finish the wiring...

solder the connections anywhere you have to join 2 wires together and use heat shrink and wire loom and wire ties... you have invested in the kit make sure you take care of it...

i bought an uncut factory harness when i was collecting parts... i will remove all the wires i dont need at the pins... that way i dont have lose wires hanging around where they are not needed... i also fix the grounds as anyone who knows gm harness's are a mess as far as grounding goes...

i have done 12 wiring for years and if ya have any questions i will do my best to help or answer...

Travis. Just my 2cents.

Give Bob at Rebelwire.com a call.

I have 20Circut. EFI Kit.

I really like the Harness I bought from him. All marked, heavy guage wire and the tech support is great. Nice guy too boot! Small business man, and like to support the little guy when I can.

Here is there site.

Think the 8 Circut will work fine man. Price isn't bad either.

Wish I would have mounted my fuse box in the glove compartment.

They have a Right hand drive kit that might just work for that.
