Are you talking about running off the cam like a Jesel?
Or using a Ford dizzy?

I know that the mount bolts up to the top part of the timing chain cover, can you use a chain with a normal cover? what all is needed for it to work?
thanks

Normally a mandrel on the crank drives it similar to a vacuum pump...

also the way the bracket looks I'm wondering if it bolts up to a stamp steel cover (cheapo Mr gasket) or does it need something else. I tried to look at the instructions and the pictures show it going on a cover with a timing belt drive, so its flat to where it would bolt to.

Mine was on a bbc big chief motor. It used a spacer between the timing cover and the bracket, 2 on each side, for a total of 4 mounting places. Also, it had another brace from the back of the mount to an intake bolt to help eliminate flex...

do you think its worth the extra money, or just a good pro billet thats already locked out from MSD for 250$?

I personally like the msd crank trigger set up. The front mount set up was on the car and worked fine, so I didn't change it. On the LUV, I went from the locked dizzy to the crank trigger with the same box and my timing is more reliable...

The summers brothers uses a standard chevy dizzy in the front. It requires their whole front drive. We are putting one on the camaro as we speak due to 14/71 blower on sbc and pro mag 44. My sbc has a comp cams belt drive which is exactly same as the jesel belt drive. Belt has to be externally seen to run this setup. I am running it because it has the bigger cap which will help to not cross fire when retarding for nitrous. You have to have a crank trigger for this to work. All the msd dizzy does is turn a rotor. Also with any front drive setup and stock location oil pump you have to have a oil pump drive plug.

Don't have a pic of the front belt drive for the cam
If you have the room just get the crab cap pro billet. And run a comp polymer gear on it. And you can upgrade to a crank trigger later if you want to.

Thanks Jaimie,
thats exactly the info I was looking for, that is a nice looking set up. I was looking at the crab cap part no. 84891 actually it would be cheaper and like you say I can always upgrade to a crank trigger later on.
