Ok, i have a 97 L31 vortec 350, bone stock that i am swapping into my 93 S10 with an M29 T56 and im going to run it with the modified stock 2.8 TBI harness and a 7747 ECM modded with the EBL Flash from Dynamic EFI. Its going to stay TBI for the time being and down the road im going to build a 383 and go multiport. My question is what are everybodys thoughts on what intake manifold would be the best choice.

First is the GM Performance vortec TBI swap intake, this one is the easiest but it doesnt seem to have the best design.

Second is a dual plane carb intake, im looking at an RPM Air Gap style with a carb to TBI adapter, this will cost alittle more because of the adapter but i think it will flow alot more air and make more power.

Third is a vortec high rise single plane intake with the same carb to TBI adapter. Will flow really well, and with it being in an S10 and with the T56 im not really worried about losing some low end torque, and ive talked to the guy that runs tbichip.com and he has done this setup with great results.

For the time being the L31 will be stock, once the truck is up and running and i get the tuning dialed in and comfortable with it i plan to upgrade to the LT4 Hot Cam and mod the guides and rocker studs and do some port work on the stock vortec heads and will need the intake to support these mods as well.

I am doing the same swap now, ina Nissan hardbody. I am using a performer rpm and an adapter, because I scored the intake for sixty bucks on Craigslist. I have had to drill and tap for a sensor and a vacuum port. Biggest thing left to do is figure out the egr or bypass it. If I was buying new, I would do the GM as it is all bolt on. Going multiport down the road though, I might go with one of the others and an adapter purely for the ease of resale...

well i was gonna dump the egr valve setup myself, and thats the other reason why i started thinking about doing the carb intake was for easier resale down the road. plus i think it will make more power. Thanks for your feedback. also sounds like a sweet project.

Well, after reading several mag articles comparing intakes and such, i gonna go with the air gap dual plane as it will work best with this engine and be no problem to get rid of down the road when i go MPFI on a 383. Ive also decided to go ahead and swap in the LT4 hot cam as i found out you can run comp 26915/26918 springs or LS6 springs (Blue max .540 lift yellow max .550 lift) along with comp 787 retainers and 648 locks, and you still have to check each head and each valve but should have enough clearance to run atleast the .525 lift of the hot cam.
