I was doing around 45 when it happened, luckily I kept control and there were no cars right around me. When I saw it come up I had a split second to put my head down, and I got showered with tiny glass needles. Thank God I was wearing a hat, because the top of it was covered with glass that would have been in my face and hair!

I had been working on the truck a little earlier, and a friend of mine was buffing the NEW, freshly painted hood for me. Well, I guess he had it open and then shut it but didn't push it down hard enough to latch it. The moral of the story is, don't trust others with your truck and ALWAYS HAVE A SAFETY LATCH! :rolleyes2:

No serious damage done, got the windshield replaced the next day and the hood fixed and resprayed the next week. Still need to replace the grille in the dash that got pummeled .

Man that SUCKS Mark, glad you didn't get hurt, glass in the eyes is no fun, I pick metal out of my eyes all the time, :yikes::cool4:, but glass requires a specialist, :veryangry::cool4:

That Sucks, but glad your allright. That happened to me in my old Nova 100 years ago while me and my friends were skipping school. I'll never forget my friend singing out "I Can't see shit can you?" as I locked it down from about 80.

Thanks guys! The plan is actually to tear it back apart next weekend to start a turbo 5.3 build. Kills me to start all over after working on it for so long, but it's just not the way I want it. Starting over to make it the way I wish I would have originally,

damn sorry for the mishap!!!! i had a friend about 10 yrs ago had that happen at 130 mph and he had o replace the whole cab because it put the roof on top of his helmet!!!! bolt on and pin on hoods need to always be latched!!!!! glad your ok!

Wow, damn glad your ok man. Hard lesson to learn, "I don't even trust the tire shop, check my lugs before I leave there lot" Really nice truck man, clean! Good luck with your new power plant swap! Love my 5.3, even though Its not huffed on!
