View Full Version : How to tell what grade bolt you're looking at

Count the dashes on the head of the bolt and add two. If there is three dashes then its a grade five. You get the drift. Not sure if this is something that everyone knows but thought I would share.

What if it has 8 dashes around the top
Or how bout them bolts with none at all?

Also factory made locking nuts will have a dot or small round indention on the side of it and I hate em'.
