Swapping out an 8.8 for a 9"... The stock bottom plates are going by the wayside and i was just wondering for those that have switched to a different bottom plate , have they messed around moving the bottom shock mount rearward in order to get it more verticle and if so , how much?

Strip only application so i'm not as concerned with shock life as much as i am with getting proper use of the shock and getting enough extension.

Would i be better off moving the top mounts forward and keep the shock closer to the housing at the bottom? it's a leaf setup with a cal-trac type setup.

I left mine in the stock location, I think for a leaf spring/caltrac setup this is fine,
just be sure and invest in some good rear shocks, rancho 9000's or comp engineering or something.
I am running comp engineering adjustables, only because they were donated to me buy a friend, but I have cut several 1.62 sixty foot times on street legal tires. that are lowprofile with almost no sidewall (35 series)

planning on going back to 15 inch wheels and a taller sidewall this summer.
