hey man, thats my truck. this is what the pulley setup is that im using....the only thing is mine is a long water pump, i had to make a spacer for the crank to make it work for mine. didnt know it was for short water pump when i ordered it. also the fan on my alternator is a billet one i picked up at a swap meet, dosent come in the kit. make sure you get a couple spare belts if you run this, you will not find them anywhere local lol

Good progress. That's a deep sump on that oil pan. Are you sure there's enough clearance for it?
Tweeder
03-27-2011, 11:13 PM
my pan is deeper at the rear. it will fit, but it means pulling the motor before you pull the trans, and not as a package deal.
ps I hate my oil pan.

Looking good!!
If that isn't a points distributor, you don't need that ballst resistor.

Mallory does recommend a ballast with that dist, but be very careful with it anyways...
The ignition module in them are like glass...
VERY SENSITIVE!!!
I fried 3 before I said forget it and went MSD...
The modules are 100 bucks each and hard to get...
Make sure that new battery is fully charged BEFORE you install it...
DO NOT TRY TO CRANK IT WITH A CHARGER ON IT, IT WILL FRY THE MODULE!!!
Just a heads up...
Good luck with it Austin...

i got a power filter to but i no about the modules prob my dad had the same prob in his old nova he fried 2 of them but all he had was a ballast he never had a power filter so hopefully that will help it

I have never had ANYTHING on ANY of my vehicles with the Mallory name on it, on any of my vehicles, that didn't fail or give me major problems. I won't even touch a Mallory product now. :evil2: :evil2: :dead:

06-15-2011, 10:17 AM
i bought it before i even had my truck prob had if for over 1 and a half so its in there now and im going to use it run low on money to change it so its stay for now
I have a Mallory ignition box and love it!!!
Have a Mallory coil as well, no problem's with either this far...
As for the distributer, it was a pain, it quit twice in the staging lanes at a race...
I replaced it once more and that one only fired the truck one time!
Many reviews online about them, some say if you have the correct stuff to go along with it they will run forever, some say junk...
I'm not dogging your stuff Austin, just gave ya the heads up and wish you the best of luck with it...

oh no prob man just saying i was hoping since i have a ballast and a power filter which they say is so the modulae wont get a high voltage spark and fry its self so having those things hopefully it wont happen

Ok guys i got it running first off so heres the story got the tach wired up cleaned up the wiring tighting some stuff up then got around to try to start it turned over blablabla hit one lick sound healthy then it wonted start then noticed a bad fuel leak end up being a diafram so went to town but a rebuilded kit it was only 20 more then a difram so why not just put some more new stuff in it so i got that done stuck it onter no more gas leaks but it was trying to start but never did found out it was 180 degrees out so we retimed it and boom it fried right up got it at like 2100 for about 6 mins then it was real hot 240 so we shut it off to cool down then add some more trans fluid and then after that strated it back up ran it for a min or so then it had a bad trans leak it was the bottom line on the raditor so thats as far as we got but it sounded great no knocks good throttle response for some reason the video makes it look like it dont held a soild 60 pounds of oil presure so all in all im proud of my self that i got my goil complete and tomorrow this stroy will proceded heres a video it ant worth a crap though

well guys been a couple days i got some stuff done i put my back wheels on got some shocks fixed some little stuff got exhaust and tags on it no the exhaust is 2.5 what they recommend with the flowmaster 10 dump before the rearend not as load as i thouhgt but it has a good sound to it i will post a video and a couple pics later after i wake up but we drove it some got about 50 miles on it now we drove it to the local dragstrip we were going to run it just a couple shack done passes nothing serious at all but i had a little leak but when we got there it was just to bad to run its that cheap 2 piece timing cover so today im reaping it all back apart to fix it and we couldny stay long because the headlight wires missed up

sorry no pics today ill get them tomorrow but today i did a little yesturday before we went to the races my dad adjust the rockers and after driving it a little while it start to miss a little on take but was fine after that sense we didnt get to race yesturday he got on it a little pulling out of the races well it stumbled and then took off no prob and who ever s10's dont get traction for some reason mines just hooks and books idk i guess because the et streets it doesnt spin but to he thought he might of tighting one a little tight so today we redid them before we tore it apart to fix the oil leak passeger side was fine went to the drivers side took the vavle cover off and one of the rockers was sideways so that would explain the sputring he forgot to tighting the allen head on the polley lock so got that fixed and i guess even with the rock missed up last night it was still fast i wasnt in the truck i was behind it in my other truck and my dad gave one of my buddys a ride all it does is squaed and its gone i just thought it was cool that it still took off so fast not even all the way on it with the rocker missed up
