8.5 spline count?

Can you guys tell me what spline axles are in a 8.5 from a 02 Sonoma 4x4. I have a chance to buy one for $275 from a local yard with disc brakes and 3.73s. Is this a good deal? I knw I will have to get it narrowed to fit the way i want it to
in my truck.

I think they are 31...

The only true 8.5s from s-series were only equipped with 4.3 and 5 speed. If it is an auto tranny, they are blowing smoke...

But that only applies to the 2 wheel drive trucks right. This is a 4x4. I think a zr2 or whatever
its called. But i knw for sure its a 8.5.

The ZR2 package is the only exception. Here is the deal. The 2wd axle is 54.5". The 4X4 axle is 4" more, being 59". The ZR2 axle is 63" is I remember right. The 8.8 axle is between the 4X4 and the ZR2 in width.
