Anyone know if these are descent heads? Just bought a set for under 900 complete with the works. I think they should work well on my motor.

Think they went bankrupt a few years ago...Defective product problems....When they work they are decent...

If i am not mistaken, I do remember one of my buddies saying, the canfields were old afr heads, not posotive on it, but its what I heard!

I had a set on a 408 that were fully ported. They were a good set of heads. Sold them to a good friend.

I have a set, their good heads. They had very few bad castings slip through and this was very early on in the process. Until they went out of buisness they had, I believe 7 heads returnd that were bad due to castings. Mine have been extremely ported and I have alot of faith in them even under alot of n2o.

Looks like my order is on back order. From what I can gather Canfield heads has been bought by someone else and they are making few changes to the heads and starting production back up. Or at least that is the latest rumor of many rumors. The heads will be going on street motor. 10 to 1 383 flat tappet cam. I hope it will be enough for low 12s

put some afr's on it and run low 10's if you don't drive it every day bump the compression up to 11:1 and run it on e-85 run a hyd roller and have 550hp and 500 tq.without the worry of a flat tappet cam. just a thought

we have two sets of canfield heads on our ford stuff. one set has been welded aorund select head stud bosses below the header flange from issues with castings. the other set is newer than those and makes 600+hp in a 363ci motor. seems to make good power but i do know they have been ported outside of canfield. from what ive heard about them they had issues with bad casting material not really in design. they used cheep materials and it bit them. but the port and chamber designs were good and always seemed to be made much better with work.

Alan Johnson: Yes if I had to do it over again I would do at least 11:1 and a hyd or solid roller. This won't be an everyday driver so it will actually be a farily tame weekend toy but I hope it will at least be fun. Anything faster than 12.7@108 is golden.

with the parts we have now day's it's not hard to build up a 500-600 hp pump gas e-85 street strip motor.joe sherman, emc fame santa ana california, builds them all the time.my next build will look alot like the following.383 4.030-3.750 scat 6" I beam rods, ohio or howards
crank, probe flat top micro lite pistons with metric rings, 11:1 comp, 850dbl pump carb, ported vic jr type intake, afr 210 comp ported heads,1 3/4" headers, heads need to flow 285 or better at .600 lift to get good numbers, a couple of good cams are comp's 268ar solid roller cam quest says 557 hp and 557 tq, xr280r shows 611 hp and 559tq. other than idle note it should act alot like the old 1970 LS6.if you have never driven one you havent lived.a little clue.with the m-22 trans you could leave a lite in 3rd gear the same as first.torque is king.

Specs on my motor are 4.030 010 block, Scat 9000 crank, 5.7 rods with Probe FPS 12cc dish pistons. Block has been decked .025. Cam is a Lunati voodoo 60104. 233/241 duration .504in .525 ex with 1.5s. I think I will use 1.6s for as much lift as possible. Add a dual plane intake and I hope 425 at the motor is obtainable. Nothing fancy, just fun.

a little tip, don't waste your money putting 1.6 rockers on the exhaust of a sbc.you my get up to 20 hp on the intake but little to nothing on the exhaust.this was from a man that owns his own dyno.he is in his 70's and has many hours on it.
