hey guys new to the site here lovin all the great info
i picked up a s10 that is going to be track only i have the motor mounts set back 2 1/4" a 9 inch rear all lexan and thats about it for now got a long way to go my question is if i cut the crossmember how much weight doe it save or is it mainly for oil pan clearance since my motor is set back i shouldn't have that problem.

when i cut the front crossmember i plan on using 3/16 plate and 1 3/4 dom tubing for the cross bar is that the norm or does the cross bar not have to be that big.
the truck is going to be a track only

thanks darrell

It's mainly for pan clearance IMO but I'm sure It saves a little weight too.

After you plate it back, the weight savings wouldn't be worth it, IMO...

when i did my crossmember i used a square tube and 3/16" plating and i saved around 15-20 pounds. i also got rid of that front horn on the crossmember as well. when i did mine i angled the plates outwards at the back too. i did mine for clearance.
