For the rear, you'll need to measure the distance from the mounting surface of your wheels to the inner flange of your wheel well opening. You can then use this diagram to determine the backspacing you'll need for your wheels. Make sure you account for tire width as well..

I hope that 315s will fit in a stock rear fender well. I have 275/50s on 10" x 15" Drag Stars on one of my S10 trucks and it fills the wheel wells completely.

I'm inclined to agree w/ Mad Max. I think 315 is pushing the limit. 315mm is about the same as 12.5 inches for tread width. Plus on a 10" wide wheel, depending on the diameter, you might have some bulging of the sidewall, which will increase the overall width. Not sure if the OP has a 1st or 2nd gen s-10 (or if it matters). I don't have my bed installed to measure the actual clearances.
A couple things that could be done to the wheel wells is rolling the inner flange and/or moving the qtr panel support rods, which could push the quarter panel out more. Doing those two things could possibly free up a little more clearance for wide tires.
If I was to *guess*..... I'd say you need about 6.5-7.5" backspacing for your 10" rear wheels w/ 315s... totally a guess though. Too much back spacing will cause the tires to hit the inner fender well or the frame. Also keep in mind that you'll have a certain amount of sidewall deflection w/ your tires, which needs to be considered for those tight spaces.
FYI- Stock backspacing on 8" wide rear wheels on 2wd s-10s is right around 4.5" I believe. Which would mean about 3.5" is sticking out. So..... a 10" wide rim, minus 3.5" sticking out, would mean you need 6.5" of backspacing. Wider tires are not included in that summary. Hope this helps.

You know.. It would be nice to get this down for each generation of S10 or Blazer
then make it a "sticky" so everyone would know..

I see this question asked over and over with really no definitive answer..

(Great reply mad max and journeyman)

Here's what you have to do to fit a 315 on a S-10.

That's a315 on 10" rim with 7.5" backspace. It's hard to se but only about an 1" of frame is left in the tire area. On a side note Isuzu Hombres have a flair on the bed side, I know a 295 will fit them without cutting.

You have 7.5 inch offset wheel, how wide is the rear end from wheel mount to wheel mount?
