I am "new" here in posting but have read the boards for a little while. I am in process of building a 30 over 454.
I have decided on a cam for my 4.280 bore 4 inch stroke motor, here are the specs:
Solid Roller, specs at .050, .667 lift on intake and exhaust
254 intake duration, 260 exhaust, lobe center at 108
head flow at .400 256 intake 166 exhaust, .500 285 intake 180 exhaust, .600 276/188 .700 272/190
these are ported 781 heads with 2.19/1.88 valves
Going with a victor intake and a 1050 Quick Fuel carb.
Tell me what I can change to pick it up some besides better porting or aluminum heads, and tell me what you think about it in a s10 that weighs about 2800 lb backed by a factory geared th400 and a set of 4.10 or 4.56 gears in the rear, going to mainly bracket rce in the 1/8 mile.
ps. Head flow maybe a little better, I got these numbers off the web for a mildly ported / bowl blended set of heads.
If anyone can put this through desktop dyno with a set of longtube headers, please post up the results as I am anxious on how it may turn out.
Thank you all in advanced

If your pistons will take it.. Nitrous..
What kind of stall are you going to run?
What size tires..
I haven't installed Desktop Dyno 2003 on the comp yet.. I had to reformat..
If you would like a copy.. just pm me..

well I have desktop dyno but I cant figure out how to use it
says this combo at 13:1 compression will be putting out 704 hp at 5500 and a 672 TQ number at the exact same rpm
Anyway, I am going to run a 3500 stall on 26 inch tall tires and the th400 with a transbrake.
Yeah it will hold nitrous, already have fully forged eagle bottom end with a set of diamond 340 dome pistons and block fill. If these numbers are right, I am gonna get my compression at 13:1 by a little decking and head milling.
110 octane I plan to have to run as well.

i would think about a little taller tire i would go with a 28 with the 4:10 gear, with the 4:56 gear i would run a 29 or taller tire

you got it going on putter to getter and spray and hold on. push your motor thru the fire wall so you don't have traction problems that motor combo is going to kick ass. if you don't have slicks yet get get them taller

I think a Profiler intake would be a better choice...

I have seen the profiler intakes and they look like they are set to KILL!
The victor's are more readily available used though, may be a reason for that too though.
Well I have everything but the intake and cam rather and the tire size is limited to the classes around here.
I have the bottom end parts bought, I will get by the shop and get you guys some pics. hopefully they have finished with the line hone before I get there tomorrow.

Oh one more point these are not my flow numbers but numbers from an internet site I found for a set of 781 that have been bowl blended with bigger valves
I expect my head to flow better, these are true numbers that have been duplcated time and time again.
