I'd suggest splitting open the harness, ear mark all the wires you'll need, then whack the rest. Save any of the ones that are switched ignition, they will come in handy for fan and fuel pump relays and such. :cool4:

at the mustang shop i work for we clean up engine bays all the time and re route harness in fender to make a no harness engine bay. most of thw time i completly remove the loom and tape from factory all the way bacl to firewall. from there i can cut or remove wire and then install new loom and tape to clean it up

Are you going to use the factory guages? If so there is maybe 5 wires that you will keep from the drivers side where it plugs into. A Haynes or chilton repair manual will have electrical wiring diagrams in the back of the book. It will tell you what the colors are and where they go.

If going to use factory gauges use the factory sending units. Say the oil pressure sending unit. Use the one for the year of your truck. That way it reads same pressure as the dash. Same with water temp. The senders read 0 to 90 ohms for examPle and your truch dash is calibrated for 5 to 30 ohms. So make sure to use senders for your truck.

Almost all of the pass side will be gone. It was for the fuel injection.

the wire harness in engine bay ends at the firewall with a large plug. if you strip all tape and loom back to this point you will see all wiring.you can trace the oil.water tep wires to the senders. you can also see what you need to delete.just for your info in this harness most of the heavy guage red are 12v battery. these will usally go straight to alt or battery. theheavy guage pink are ignition wires that usally turn on electronics. but the best thing i can tell you is invest in a chiltons book. it will have wiring schimatics and will show you what every harness and pin in the truck does.

yeah im gettin on that this mornin i talked to a gut on craigslist he said he would do all my wiring and hide it and run loom on what you cans see for 150 to 200 its a shop so im thinking of doing that but not sure ill decide after today whe i go do what you just told me. I bought a haynes book last night i dont understand them wiring diagrams i see the fuse and try to track it but i get lost ha ha. Thanks for the input im gonna try that now.

Take pictures and notes for later. Saves you time, and helps you remember what you did. Just a suggestion. Get the truck running, and then remove the uneeded wires. Just my 2 cents, easier to see what you may need for your swap. And then reloom everything to taylor fit your harness to the engine bay.
Good luck, and post your progess man.

Could i follow the AC control wires all the way back and remove them same way with fuel injection and everything else i want my radio, gauges, and all my lights for street driving. What wires should i keep handy for other elec. add on elec fans, elec fuel pump, ect. I have a few pics in my album of the truck had surgury so im at a stand still for two weeks it SUCKS!!!!!
