Hey guys, im getting ready to cut out my old 8 point roll bar and put in a 10 point mounted to the framewith outriggers. But since the oem body mounts are right where i want to put the outriggers, i was wondering if anyone has come up with a good solution for this. I dont mind cutting out the oe mounts, just wasnt 100% sure on how to tie the body mounts into the outriggers and mount the cage. Any help will be great.

I had this problem, if you want I can send you pics and a letter from a div tech guy on how to make it legal had to go off bars with legal 1 5/8 roll bar tubbing down through floor to out riggers, left cage also on plates in floor, when my builder did cage didnt tell him, and also didnt know what I needed to make it legal

Randy406 should have some pics.
Use a piece of tubing the same size as your cage welded to the side of your frame
rails.
About 1-1/2" to 2" away from the rails tied right in to the side with a radius.

I am sure Randy will comment soon..

Nope.. Saved all the mounts..

So are the rear mounts the only ones that have to go? I guess i need to get out in the garage again and scope out mine and see what i can come up with.

Here is a link to the chassis shop pictures that they took when they installed my cage... http://my.pho.to/jweltonbrown/s2/albums/truck_owner_jeff_/

Hope it will answer some of your questions.

That helps alot!! I like how they bent the A pillar bars back to fit behind the cab mounts. So your main hoop is on plates and your "cross bars" are going to the frame, is that NHRA legal? I will be running IHRA but i want to do it right incase i ever run NHRA someday.

If you look at picture #10 you will see the plate he made for the main hoop. Those plates were placed directly above the factory cab mounts. Mine is certified to 8.50. Hope this helps.

all points have to go to frame on a full frame car or truck to be nhra legal
to frame or outriggers that are to frame

I thought if they didnt go to the frame you had to weld it to a 6x6 plate then use bolts in each corner sandwiching the floor with another 6x6 plate to be legal.

Only on a uni-body. On a full frame vehicle all point must go to frame.

this is how I fixed mine, the guy that originally put my cage in, put a pillar bars to plates above body mounts (my fault, didnt know the rules then) after some thought the div 6 tech guy the main one told me what he wanted and this is what we did, bought some more 1 5/8 roll bar tube from art morrison, and went to down riggers behind body mounts, so my a pillars go to two points, to plates on floor and to frame, all my other points go to frame so I am legal now, this is what we did last spring before my new motor

i actually took the stock body mount and welded plate to where the rubber would bolt in place and welded the roll cage to the stock body mount. was easer to do at the time. but would def do it diff.prob wouldnt pass tech either but worked for me

I just read that in the nhra rule book tonight. I must have misread it earlier.
