Those are one of the easiest units to wire up. I love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Dayna, that is alot simpler than having individual relays. The fuses and the relays on one board. The switches has a main multi wire group that ties the switch panel to the board. This is a great setup for basic on/off...

first off they aint that expensive...

second thing is... they can be used for more than basic on off set ups... they can be used as a momentairy as well... starter is one use... purge is another and line lock is a third option... just to name a few... hell you could even wire ur trans brake up to one of the switches... it has endless uses... and is the easiest switch panel/ relay- fuse center i have ever wired up in a car...

there is even a safety feature that you can have all the switches turn off when you hit one button...

we aint even started talkin bout the multi switch panels that can be hooked together for unlimited switching set ups...

well worth the money... hands down... and like i said not that expensive in the grand scheme of things...

I agree those are nice switches, I used to have a set.

Then at an NHRA race I was failed at tech cause of the switches, and they wouldn't let me race. because they were not a positive connection switch. they are illegal to use in a race car by NHRA rules. so I spent the next 3 hrs getting ready for a race by replacing the switches with toggles.

NHRA section 19 - general rules

8:3 Ignition

Each car in competition must have a positive-action on/off switch, capable of de-energizing the entire ignition system, in good working order, located within easy reach of the driver. "Momentary contact" switch prohibited. Magneto "kill button"- type switches are prohibited.

I have my ARC8000 wired so that the main ground to the relay board goes through a toggle switch mounted on my dash. When I want to power the truck up I throw the switch on and everything is energized. With the flip of the toggle switch (positive-action) the entire electrical system shuts off.

I wired it that way because I like the safety feature... didn't know about the rule until you posted. My track in anal about a lot of the rules, but they never asked or tested it.

I put an additional battery disconnect in my truck.
Goes from Battery, Battery Disconnect in rear of truck, Battery Disconnect in truck, Electronics Panel..
The ignition is a series parallel that has to go threw the switch.. That way the alt cant keep the truck running if you kill everything.

Nice Tim...

Mine is wired the same as Mike's...
I have 2 master kill switches, one in roll pan and one in cab...
Either will kill the entire system...

I had a master switch in the dash as well but they told me that it was not a master kill that was illegal but the momentary buttons them self. they found that vibrations can cause the switches to change from on to off and visa versa, which was a safety issue. I know this now cause a guy i rent a room to is a SFI certified tech inspector for the NHRA.

I understand where you're coming from, but I was just quoting the actual rule book. If my track ever were to question my setup, I'd pull out the book and tell them to read what "their rules" are.
