So yesterday morning I'm cussing Katie, trying to get an air hose out of my PACKED garage...There is an S10 in the way with no front springs in it...So I can't get past it and decided to move it sideways using the jack. The car is tooo low to get even my race jack under it so I get under a control arm, lift, add jack stand, and repeat other side. I now lift said S10 from center of cross member...

Truck is now moved over and I decided to grab inside the core support area to pull the jack out while bending over in front of the truck, while the steel hood is propped open..It's on the prop rod mind you...:)

'Bout this time the truck slides backwards OFF the jack stands which were under the frame rails just forward of the control arm mounts....:veryangry::veryangry:

With no front springs she hits the floor on its' wheels and bounces a couple times BANG BANG! and spits the jack stands out BANG BANG!!! :yikes::yikes:

AND THE HOOD BOUNCES SHUT ON MY WRIST BANG BANG!!

Katie and Alyson fly into the garage to see whats up and I'm standing there going "What? It's after 9 am!! I can make noise!!":2up:

NICE raised area on the forarm and sore this morning....Still....

Moral of the story...NEVER trust a jack stand without testing it first...:nono::nono::nono:

Pics not needed...Dumbass facepalm no extra cost...

No the wrist of mine broke the fall of the hood;)

I am VERY anal about getting under cars period, let alone crawling under one without someone handy in case of an accident...

I am not so worried as I usually give a vahicle a good shake or two in Mom's back yard before crawling under it, but MOM on the other hand, is SERIOUSLY worrisome!! If I am out at her place working on a car, she is within earshot or outside with me, one of the 2. And if not actually outside, she is out every 5 to 10 minutes checking on me seeing if I need any help. Love her to death.

I had a bad incident on 2 different occasions. once while under the Lincoln I had, and the other while I was under the hood. first time, while I was underneath the car, I was tightening up u-joint bolts and had to eek just a hair farther under the car, which required me pushing my way under it just a bit. For those who arent ford savvy, Lincolns are air ride in the rear on certain models. This one was one of those. I pushed the rear of the car up, the computer said "I AM TOO HIGH, LEMME GET LOWER!!!" It popped open the valve to deflate the rear air bags and I suddenly got short of breath. Managed to muster a good hard inhale and screamed like a little girl!!! "HEY MOM HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!"

her and her arthritis and our 2 dogs came a haulin ass outta the house and about killed each other trying to get to me. I got one more breath in enough to say "TURN THE KEY ON, NO START!!" It aired the bag up enough I could breathe again, and managed to wiggle my butt out from under it. next weekend I was in off the truck, it got the air ride compressor removed from it.

2nd time, I had switched trannies from AOD to C6. no safety switch on the trans I put in, so I had the key on to find the starter wires and wire them together. did it redneck style, bared some wire, twisted them together, taped it a bit and shoved them back in the wire loom where they came. Simple Right?? Not when the reverse wire is constant hot while the key is on.... i shoved the wire in, it got poked thru my tape job by one single wire off the reverse hot lead, car started and reversed back down the driveway headed for Mom's pond or gate... either one was serious oh CRAP for me. My 350 pound fat butt went running after that car as fast and hard as I could!! I looked like the Michelin man on crack chasing after that thing!! I caught it, got ready to jump in the drivers seat, went EYAAA, and CRACK!!!! Nailed my head on the top of the door jam!!! ALMOST KNOCKED MYSELF OUT!! Stayed alert enough to turn the key off and jam on the brakes.... Missed the pond by about 8 feet. gate was not even close (30 feet!!). Had a headache for 4 days after that and loked like I got in a fight with a golf club!!
