Hey Justin, that is some good info. There is even more on the self tuning out there.
If you have the time and the patience, you can buy the program
and work the bugs out on a tune. If you change cams and what to alter the tune, You
have to send the ECM out and wait for it to come back. The other way that is beneficial
is an email tune to get you close. The tune is sent via email and then you program
your own with no down time...

I have Tuner Cats and LT1 Edit. Both programs have the software to edit the ECM. You need a computer, cable with the ALDL, and the program. I can't help much being OBD1 and you are OBD II. The software is different. Tuner Cats allows you to do most OBD II cars and then you can purchase the definitions to the specific applications. With Tuner Cats, you are unlimited on the number of uses and the different ECMs of the same family. With LT1 Edit, you are locked to a VIN number and can only alter the ones that you have the license for.
Tuner Cats Has more adjustments than LT1 Edit from what I have seen.

Understand. Thanks Kent. I'll look into this. I know LS1 Edit is popular, but I need to check pricing. Its gonna cost either way, so i just need to buck up and do it. Pay the piper!
Let you know what I end up with.
