My suspension is stock up front minus drop spindles. In the rear its stock with drop leaves and slapper bars. I have 275/60/15 mt drag radials and keep spinning them everytime i pick up the power. My best 60ft. so far is a 1.77 i know not great lol but it doesnt seem like my suspension works all that great. The truck just goes it doesnt sqaut down in the rear and the front doesnt really pick up like it has no weight transfer. The snubbers on the slapper bars are tight up against the spring eye should i have a gap there would that help to kinda shock the tires and help weight transfer? What else would you guys recomend for my set up some 90/10s up front. Im willing to try things im just tryin to learn thank for the help in advance guys.
with my limited use of slapper bars i have found that they are a compromise as far as traction devices go... the main mistake people make when getting them is the bars are not long enough to place the snubber directly under the spring eye... if the snubber is below the leaf spring itself it can and will eventually bend your leaf spring...
with that said... there should be a slight gap between the snubbers and the spring eye if your bars are long enough or the same gap between the springs and the snubber...
since you said there is no squat and no lift on launch you are right there is no weight transfer... readjust the slapper bars and try to get a video of it launching...
as far as 90/10 shocks go... they help with weight transfer once you have it... they wont add it if it is not there already...
try adjusting the bars and see what happens...

I built the bars to hit right under the spring eye so im good there. I have a video and will try and get it up so you can see what its doin. I get my new rear today i hope so will do the adjusting then. My pinion angle is off too but that would have anything to do with weight transfer would it?

believe it or not i run better without tracktion bars. i cut a 1.60 the last time out. i know its not the fastest but until i can afford some caltracs or something of the sort i am gonna live without them.
i have people do some crazy stuff with slapper bars, i just couldn't figure it out

My blazer had the 275 drag radials, some leafs removed, lowering blocks, Rancho
9000 shocks, and traction bars. No traction, lol...
I removed the drag radials, streeter only, I plan on getting some lowering leafs and ditching the blocks and slappers, I don't think it will hook less without that stuff...

Pinion angle can affect the effectiveness of the slapper bars. Along time ago when we ran them best I remember they had to have like 6 degrees down of pinion angle to work good with the rubber snubbers. We built some solid snubbers and got it down to like 4.5 degrees. But that's still way more than caltracs daggers ladder bars or a 4 link. We did get some 1.30's outa them on spray. But down track it was horrible to drive.

Ding ding we have a winner been 1.20s in the 60ft with slappers 6.5on the pinion angle bitch would hook on dirt

thats because you have mud tires. :laughoutloud:
Just kidding. I agree, the angle can effect it. Another thing to look at is tire pressure. What tire pressure are you running those radials at?

S10 suspensions love to be slapped hard!

You do not want it to squat in the rear. Leaf spring cars separate on the hit.
Give the snubber some gap under the eye, to help hit it harder. The radials like to be hit pretty hard.
Id also look at the bushings/ springs up front. Make sure theyre not overtightened or binding.
And as Hal said what pressure you running in the radials?

Who has a set sitting around for my street truck? I will give that a try I already have 275/50/15 M/T drag radials on it and thats enough. I dont want to give any body an idea how fast it is. I think I can make some money with it so the plainer the better... Oh Yea I ordered some Borlas to cut the sound way down......:rock:

Around here, everything is considered fast until it makes a pass.

Right now 12psi think im goin to change the snubbers out for bolts too.
i would leave the snubbers in place... metal to metal contact aint such a good idea... some give is better than bolts slamming into your spring eyes...
but that is jmo...

12 PSI?!?!? them aint slicks. You want to run 15 in a radial at the least. Mostly depends on track conditions. On a shit track we have to run 15 psi just to get down the track. On a good track we usually up the tire pressure between 17-18 psi. .
The radials work without a doubt if your suspension is right, we've been 1.25 60's on 275/60 hoosiers

I agree. 15-18 psi is what we also run too. NO traction bars. Just 4k lbs of fun. have cut many 1.5 60ft. Can pop the wheel up in my sig even on a 1.9 60 ft too. REMEMBER NO BARS.
Change your tire pressure and go again. 12 psi is way to low. Reason IMO why drag radials work with higher psi than slicks is that they like to be hit hard causing it to "spring" a little back up. In some videos we have it appears that the tire almost goes "flat" and the rim is almost touching the ground. This is in slow motion of course. When it does that it HOOKS!
I am still in the learning phase of drag radial racing. But this is what I have gathered from some members here who race radials and of course by reading alot on the bullet
