Just wondering how much room everyone has between their radiator and the water pump pulley. Thanks.

Thanks guys! I was just wondering. I've run into a slight issue with my truck. What fans are you running? How much CFM is really needed on a street truck with a mild small block?
I have a little less than 3" right now to fit a fan. I ordered a 28"x16" radiator but didn't realize until after I started to modify it that it actually measures 26" so I don't have as much core space as I'd like. I've found a fan that I know will fit and moves about 2400 cfm. Think that will be enough or should I get a 31" radiator and add say two 12" fans?

You should be fine with either of your ideas but I like to have a lot of extra margin on a cooling system especially on the street.
Right now, I have a direct fit dual row BE COOL (not the regular ones in the Jegs catalog, mine is rated at 1000hp) and dual pusher 13" Spal fans that throw around 3700cfm. It cools bad ass, on the street, idling at stoplights in 90 degree weather, even with the supercharger - but being a direct fit means alot of compromise - and it was pretty expensive.
If I had to do it all over again, I would modify the core support and put in a larger, cheaper, "standard size" dual row aluminum radiator and put it as far forward into the grille as possible and run some nice sized puller fans. This setup would cool just as well if not better than the high dollar "custom" radiator I have and ultimately be alot cheaper if you don't figure in your labor costs to modify the core support.

The radiator I have is a 2 row aluminum already mounted in the modified core support. I just think I should have gone with a bigger radiator to start. I should have noticed how little it actually was before I took a welder to it lol.

i got abig tube corvette and a tauras, modified core, here is a pic, i run at 180 on the highway, around 200 in traffic unless it hits 205 and the hugh speed fan kicks on then it runs 180, on a cool day it will run 160-165 constant

Another fan to look into is the 98+ Intrepid or Concorde. These twin fans have two speeds. When low is on, both fans are on low, then high speed, both switch to high. The shroud is almost perfect for a 4.3 radiator which is 26" x 15"...
Nice job Many

I've got an 18.5" X 31" Be-Cool I picked up used for $125, then added some stuff to it, the mounting "wings", and relocated the cap. (It bugs me to see a core support notched out for access to the cap)

I had to massage the core support quite a bit to make it fit and look right, but I think it was worth it, still got the AC condenser and a HUGE trans cooler in there as well....
