View Full Version : Getting ready for the flashlight drags.
Wanted to make the Kid's 68 Camaro presentable for the "Flashlight Drags" Sunday, so we flat blacked it! This is a vid of it coming out of the booth. It's a 406 sbc solid roler, Pro Top Line 235's. Dynoed @ 562 hp. at the crank. He's putting it back together as we speak. Oh, btw that's Andy Andy (Grappler) at the shop door.
Around here flashlight drags ain't no joke..Guys go to the track to get ready for them.Lotta money flyin around. Lotta fast cars. This year there are 4 of them at a local airport.

nice car - sounds pretty salty
Hey thanks guys. Kid deserves all the credit. Built it from the ground up. Floors, tubs, 4 link, coil overs, cage and all the body. All I did was squirt some primer! The color on the cage is what color it'll eventually be.Also the cowl hood on the wall in the 2nd pic.

Thanks Jeff, I will. It is a good time. Line'em up and go. Not hard to get 20 runs in. You can even hot lap if you want. Lots of money runs. Reminds me of street racin 35-40 yrs ago without the jail time.

Looks like you guys had a great time.
Jeff
Looks like fun!
Wish we had stuff like that around here...
It was a pretty good time. The whole contingent of cars we took hung in there till the end, so no one really got eliminated early. That makes for a much better mood for everyone involved. I was especially proud of the Kid, thrashing to get there and doing so well with an untested car. That just tells me he prepared it well. Beautiful weather, No one got hurt, nothing catastrophic broke. The worst thing that happened to any of the cars all day was a fuel selonoid failure on a friend's Corvette. He vise gripped it off and kept racing NA. So it really was a great day

Nice! Was that at Zelionople?
Nice! Was that at Zelionople?
I can't believe there's anyone on here that ever even heard of Zeli! That one was from Waynesburg, Green County Airport. Unless something changes I don't think they're gonna have them at Zelionople. I believe the F.A.A. shut them down. We plan on attending the one in Beaver Run in Sept. and the next one in Waynesburg in Oct. (If it ain't snowin! lol)

Phil, Dad and I went to the drags once and decided never again when there was a car fire and we had to do dry burn outs until the fire truck got back....

As slick as the runways are you're better off not usin water anyway. You're better off with a dry heater. My truck don't launch for crap there, but it seems like not many do. That's half the chalange!
