Just make sure you get the right one, internal or external balance...
And if it isnt a sfi balancer now DEFINATLY replace it with a sfi approved one now!!!
They can cost costly damage... I KNOW! lol

My current set up is ext. balanced and i will get a new sfi ext. balanced balancer, but will i have to get the whole rotating assy. re balanced or can the machine shop match the weight of the old and new and then just swap them out.

I really dont know...
I had kinda the same problem...
I had a 383 ext balanced, non sfi approved balancer, it started to seperate at the rubber inner...
I called Jegs and told them my problem, they said just replace it with a external balanced balancer and be on my way...
I ordered one from them, put it on and 2 weeks later it went boom. BIG BOOM!!!
Dont know if the balancer swap done it or if the other balancer starting to seperate done it...
Although it probably didnt help that I was turning this thing to 74-7600...

Look and Weep...lol

If it's externally balancer. Well I hate to say but you should have the rotating assembly rebalanced. When they balance externally they bolt on the flywheel and balancer to spin it. So it can change from balancer to balancer. If it was internally balanced they balance it without the flywheel and balancer. Then if they are a good shop they will add the flywheel and balancer just to make sure it's correct. Point is. Who says you buy a sfi balancer that's right on the money where it should be. And they balanced it with a cheap balancer that was off just a tiny bit. So with the old balancer it was good. But with the new better balancer it is out of balance.

If it was my motor I would not be revving it very high being externally balanced. Could end up like this motor...
