Good luck.

If I can offer some advice? Go up to the starting line and watch for awhile. Get a feel for how things are done. Then have fun!

Remember... you will only get better with practice, so don't get down on yourself if you make a mistake. I'm sure others here can chime in with alot of great advice.

Not sure if you mean it's your first time, at the track, or the trucks. If it is your first time, do like Jeff said, watch a little first. Pay particular attention to how the burn-outs, and staging are done. Can't tell you how many I've seen stage with the rear wheels, or their window down.

My only words of advice is "make sure your brakes work BEFORE you go down the track" :laughoutloud:

take a deep breath, no were the turnouts are and give right of way if you are on non turn out side, no were time slip schack is and ask a lot of questions!!!!
being nervous means you give a damn and this is something you want to do, everytime you go out there it will get easyer and easyer, if you have a friend who has raced before, have them help you get in waterbox and come up to pre stage , ask for help and do it, you will have a ball
DRAG RACING KICKS ASS, you will love it when you pull into water box life gets very good:rock:

Like spib said, and its not just a figure of speach "Take a deep breath". try to relax. try to stay focused (my problem last week)Try to line your truck up in the groove at the starting line. Most important HAVE FUN!!! I think its the most fun you'll ever have with your clothes on. It'll definately make you feel alive. I was hooked from the first time. Best of luck and kick ass, 1Slowdime!!!

Thats great buddy, listen,....I've been drag racin for nearly 30 years and I still get the butterfly's from time to time, just have fun,....if it doesnt take your breath every time the light comes down,....well.....quit,.....lol
The most important thing you can do for yourself is become friends with 'starter" guy before and while your learning, make sure you know what he expects before you line up, and remember HAVE FUN.....

Not sure of your combo, but take it easy for the first pass or two. Run on motor (assuming your truck is bottle fed) for the first pass. Get a feel for what the truck wants to do on the track. Just an FYI, vehicles react differently on the track then they do on the street. Oh, yeah, remember this one thing----- Have fun and make friends. Some of the best times I have had and some of the best people I have met all happened at some racetrack or another.

I know it's gonna be hard to do but try to pretend your the only one there and dont let anyone rush you. You payed your money just like everyone else did so take your time and find your rythm. And for goodness sakes try to have fun. If it ain't fun it ain't worth doin.

Just a thought ..... If you can take the power steering belt off, do it. I've seen so many rookies and "advanced" racers over correct and hit the wall. Without power steering it is much easier to her straight. And like everyone else has said, Ask tons of questions, take it easy and have fun. Hey if the import guys can take 25 secs to go down the track you can take as much time as you need to get staged or get in the groove!!

It has manual steering already but thanks for the info and i like the import line lol

Mid 12's in the 1/4. It has the potential for more, I don't know what tire you have on it, the carb size, or the actual stall of the converter. I also feel you'd pick up some with a Victor Jr. or even a Super Victor. None the less it will run good, and only get better every time you take it to the track. You will become a better driver, and thus a better tuner with each pass.

Thanks for the post everyone. Im running a 275/60/15 MT Drag Radial,750 carb, and 3000-3400 stall. I had wanted to go with a victor jr. but was afraid it would kill off bottom end its my first build so im still learning. Hey D i will get some pics on here goin to get it cleaned up tonight ;).
