View Full Version : Acceptable pinion shaft runout in 10 bolt?

Picked up another rear for the camaro today, before I even got it out of the truck me and the old man noticed something wasnt right. Put a dial indicator on it. Thing was moving .040" on the very end of the shaft and .025" at the seal. Sure as shit I took it back right away and got my money.

Im going to look at another tonight, with an even better gear in it, and taking the dial indicator with me. Need to know what it SHOULD read....

2000ths or less is a good rule of thumb for runout in general...

Good deal, thanks. If this other one I'm supposed to look at tonight has much more than that, I wont even bother with it.

Dont buy junk.. Its not that hard to set one up yourself..
