with your carb off your intake, put a angle finder across carb flange and should be in the zero degree range, my blazer when I first got it was 12-13 degrees leaning back, why I didnt break stuff was a wonder, when I put motor plates in,I leveled everything off, and it all works better.
The only dumb questions are the ones not asked, I ask a lot of questions

Do it both ways off the carb flange.
You dont want all your oil leaning to one side do ya? :)

ok so the angle finder will be 0 degrees both ways and i'll be set right? hey how accurate would a level be doing this?

That all depends on the bubble size and quality of the level..

You could buy this one from "Pitchfinder" for 27 bucks

I run a Checkpoint 880 laser level with a rotary base..
But I always check with my Craftsman Angle finder.. (Under 12 bucks)

also when you are doing all this it would be a good idea, to have the headers in place, and your steering shaft, so then later you wont go , OH SHIT
