Using a ford starter relay with gear reduction starters some times keeps the starter energized for a second after letting go of the ignition switch.

With the solenoid mounted, look at it from the front. Battery cable to left big post, another cable from right post to big post on starter. Ignition wire to the s terminal on the solenoid (better solenoids are marked) if it has 2 smaller studs, to the the single stud if it has only one. Jumper from the s terminal on the starter solenoid to the big post on the starter...

ok you hook up the selinoid the same as if it was a ford.and you wire your starter bendix to the hot side of the starter thats it ..... blue ford seliniod. battery hot to one side. starter hot to other side. start swicth to left side of selinoid lug (small). then the starter selinoid make jumper from selinoid to starter hot. i used the blue ford seliniod..thats how mine is set up and had no problems for 31/2 yrs and i'm using a high torqe mini gear reduction

it did it for me with a stock newer style Ford starter in the wifes mustang but we changed to a high torque cvr starter and it,s not doing it anymore
