Another question is will the crossmember work that you made me?

Here is a link from the turboforums. Go about 3/4 way down to tranny info. It gives info on the length. Im just wondering if it will fit under the stock floorboards. Im hoping somebody will chime in....

A tight fit, it is a 400 with a slightly longer case, and the t400 is a pain. For a bulletproof daily driver, I say go for it...

the 4l80e is a 700 with a lock up converter , it has over drive, the 400 does not

That is the 4l60e Dan, the 4L80e is as I described it. Your 2500 and 3500 series gas burners with the big blocks have them, along with a few others...

4l80e is a BEEFY unit. I.e. bigger, heavier and takes more power away than the 4l60e. BUT it supposedly does withstand some serious power in stock form.

The mount is 30-3/8th away..
I design them with about 5" of play
I would have to make a new one..

Damn.. That Robert1320 guy posted a lot of good info...

Good find on the tranny specs. Robert1320 stole a shit ton of money, and screwed over a bunch of people which is why he got banned I believe. I think he recently got out of prison.

Alvarez is correct on Robert....the reason Im looking into the swap is for gearing purposes. I would love to have a tranny that can hold 800 horse and have overdrive. I have confirmed that they have been used in the syclone/typhoons. These run a transfer case in which the floor/hump may be clearanced.

The real question is with all the mods in this tranny be cheaper than a Gear Vendors unit? If it is cheaper and it is certainly less labor to install it. Here is the link

I do believe the 4l80 has to have a separate computer to control it, which runs up the costs. I had a gear vendors on a turbo 400 in a 70 Chevelle bbc car, I liked the thing, it is as you say though, pretty spendy. Never broke it though...

you are correct on the 4L80e it needs a controller...
