Don't ask why lol, but I'm about to put a th400 I have behind the 4.3 that's in me S10. The 700r4 took a shit and I need to keep the truck moving while I build a 6.0l for it. Besides the slip yoke what else might I have to watch out for putting it behind the little v6? Anyone know off hand the length difference between the two transmissions so I know what to do with the drive shaft? I should mention this is an extended cab with a two piece shaft. Thanks

Driveshaft will be a little long, I believe, you will need to move the crossmember, and the mount for the trans mount will need to be lowered on the xmember, most likely...

I guess I'll have to just measure the two transmissions. I thought the 700 was longer than the th400. I have a crossmember for a th400 w/ a sbc, I fogure that will still work. Thanks for the info!

That's my old truck that I fully bagged and shaved. I miss it every now and then, but I decided goin fast was a better idea lol! I'll tell you one thing, slow and low was waaaaaaaay cheaper!

BTW, just in case you ever have to do the TH 400 swap, the 400 tranny is shorter than the 700 R4 (I think by 4 inches for the short tail), so longer drive shaft is required. If you have a split DS, go to a one piece - they don't jump around as much under load. Otherwise, make sure that you mark the front DS so it goes back the same way as it came apart. The last prob is the T converter may have a different bolt pattern than the 700 R4 flexplate bolt pattern. I did some swaps with SBCs a long time ago, the flex plate is different. Some are double drilled to take any T converter bolt pattern - some are single pattern drilled.
Hope this may be usefull info.
Also - Confucious say - drink beer and go fast.
