just wondering who likes to run it out the back door or just take it easy and only 660'?
anyways i am from the midwest so you all know up here in michigan we run the 1320 but damn 1/8 shit is growing on me ? (easier on parts)
also myself and a couple of buddies are thinking of packing up and heading south for a long weekend and bring a couple of ours cars with us (mustang and a s-10) what track should we hit up? we are thinking house of hook?

Never been on or seen a 1/4 track, but since all we have is 1/8th mile i like it.
gimme the full 1320 any day... thats the only thing bad about being in the south... i miss the quarter mile tracks we had out west...

I prefer the 1/4, but back when we street raced, we ran from exit to exit on the lacal interstate, that was 7 miles...
our tracks are 1320 but have a few that are 660 , I ran at a 1/8 mile track once it is ok, but not as much fun to me as the 1/4 mile, not even close
I'm fine with either. Most 1/8th mile tracks are more fun. Less rules, usually don't have to wait in the lanes as much.

I've raced 1/4 mile for years, I couldn't give a shit about 1/8 mile until I started running FL Real Street, now I HATE running 1/4 mile. 1/8 mile is so much easier on parts.

My home track is 1/8 which is were I run the most, finals are usually at a 1/4 and I run 1/4 couple times a year, to me racing is racing they are both fun, but if you are set up for 1/8 it changes when you go 1/4.

1/4! I have never ran the 1/8 not interested in trying it out. I put way too much work into getting to the track to only run half of it LOL!

I'll run anything. The track closest is 1/8 mile with the 1/4s being a hour and a half or 2 and a half.
Given the chance I always go to the quarter, you then know both your times. If all you ever run is the 1/8 your guessing your 1/4 times.
I kinda prefer the 1/8. It is definitely easier on parts. (couldn't tell so if you seen my broken parts post lol) But the main reason is because the closest 1/4 is 1 1/2 hours away.

Perfer 1/4 mile myself. Never been on an 1/8 mile track even though one is just an hour away. I'll have to give it try this year.

I havea bunch of 1/4 mile tracks around me but there at least an hour 15 minutes away. My racing budget doesn't allow me to travel a whole lot right now, so it's the 1/8th mile track for me

1/4 most defenly, nothing like taking it to the cleaners, parts is parts, 1/4 mile is for men and 1/8 mile is for boys .lol i know alot of you dont like that

I've never run an 1/8th.
I've been to so many tracks all over the country I can't count them - all 1/4s. I even run my rental car if I don't drive to an assignment....:nono:
What do you think the rental guys would say?:laughoutloud:
Anyway, in Baton Rouge, there are 2 1/4 tracks within 30 minutes of downtown and they run all year round.
One day I'll try an 1/8, but it seems like it would go by in half the time...:10:
And to quote DAND - parts is parts.
Sides, my dime hasn't got the bag to hatch parts. 207 CID baby!

Our track went from 1/4 to 1/8th mile about 10 years ago. A few years back I went to a big money race in Montreal that is held on a 1/4 mile track. And all I have to say about that is: If you like hearing you're engine screaming for half the race, go right ahead and run 1/4! LOL

I like a 1/8th better cause its all about seeing what your truck has and making it do everything in 660 ft. Its fun to go real fast but when you can make it run t close to what it would run in the 1/4 in the 1/8 now thats a thrill.

1/8 mile whimps, cannt handle the run , 1/8 is like a fast f*ck , eh,eh,eh your done what fun is that , for some of you i guess a fast f*ck is better than no f*cking . race it like you stole it etheir that or your sh*t wont stay together that long for more than one 1/4 mile run

Anyone can make a vechicle go fast but to make it all happen within 660 ft takes a hell of a lot more tuning. Yeah its fun running it out the back door every now and then but its a lot more exciting in the 1/8 th mile.

my pee wee doesnt run as fast , but the 60s pull the same 1/8 or 1/4 , just pulls longer in the 1/4. and the mph like 170 + come on , a real ride. its all about the speed. the rush of keeping it straight as you pulling hard all the way thru you guys 1/8. front tires feel funny at the other end (remember the mph )twice the ride. more time to play with the goods. and tunning for the 1/8 what tunning your only going a short run down the drive way, fog it twice and hold on . make it last down the whole strip. i can go on an on. this is fun
chrisvan
02-15-2010, 08:13 PM
There is not a whole lot of speed difference between 1/8 and 1/4 times. What around 20 mph? Its the thrill on getting up to that speed really fast. Thats the whole thrill. You can make anything fast but making them quick is 2 different things.

Not bad at all. I still think the thrill is the first 660 ft and the rest is just for speed. As long as your at the track it really doesn't matter as long as you get to race.
