You have to put a steering stop on the bottom of the spindle so it doesnt hit the tire

mine is drag only if you crank the wheel far enough they hit, I dont have stops on mine, but dont hardly ever hit, I dont crank it all the way, I have 3.5" wheel

X2, i welded a piece onto the bump stop already there, you only need 3/8 to 1/2 inch piece extra, i use the 165's aswell with no problem. the rim, per hedman headers, is supposed to be 3.5 inch aswell

I also run the VW 165. but I need to weld the stops in as I rub the headers on occasion.

We had the VW tires on the front of our S-10 until one of them came apart at 108 mph. Switched to frontrunners and now the front end wants to skate around. They were used and had some age on them but, now I'm not sure what to do.

Thats the problem with the VW tires.. they are not speed rated.. At least not the speed we need them to be rated at.
I run Hoosiers on my Chevelle and they seem stable.. The tires "used" may need to be looked at.
Take them to a tire shop and get them balanced and see if they are out of round.
